Our Story

Person wearing a green silk saree with a purple border, featuring short hair and purple lipstick.

Sarees weave together the tapestry of my memories, connecting me to the grace of my mother, the warmth of my grandmother, and the timeless elegance of my aunts. From the simplicity of everyday cottons to the splendor of occasional Kanjipurams, each thread is intertwined with their personalities.

Despite my admiration, it took a move to Australia and the arrival of my daughter to truly appreciate the legacy carried by these six yards of fabric. As I shared our traditions with her, it struck me that my childhood was colored by the allure of sarees, yet I hadn't embraced them as much as I should have. Slowly, I began to drape myself in the stories they held.

In the unexpected stillness of 2020, when borders closed and life paused, I embarked on a quest to find authentic soft silk sarees in Australia. The pursuit was arduous; the quality I sought was rare. This pursuit led to a revelation, sparking the birth of Korvai. In 2021, we introduced a thoughtfully curated range of sarees that marry timeless artistry with contemporary designs. Our aim is to kindle a renewed love for sarees in the hearts of the modern generation, fostering an embrace of tradition rather than its evasion.

I invite you to join us at Korvai, where each saree is a vessel of heritage, a homage to the past, and an invitation to create your own stories.
